Bruncvík is a figure from Czech legends, a legendary Czech prince. His father Žibřid won the symbol of the black female eagle for the Czech Kingdom and Bruncvík decided to acquire an even better symbol, a lion. He and his retinue set out for a journey around the world. After many adventures, he actually met a lion and saved him from a terrible dragon. The grateful lion stayed with Bruncvík, and since then the lion has been the symbol of the Czech Lands. The legend about Bruncvík is similar to the story of Ulysses and Sindibad, from which it is actually derived.
